GV EVBC Newsletter#3 March 6th Range & Infrastructure Session Transmittal Email Damond L Osterhus 10 Mar 2024 16:03 MST
Hello Bill, Steve, Hugh, Patrick & Jackie,

Attached is Newsletter #3 with all the slides and commentary.

The slides are displayed in the Newsletter less than full size. I have
printed them out using my HP Inkjet printer and most slides are legible;
albeit the text is sometimes small. I do suggest you print out the
newsletter pdf. HOWEVER, if you wish a pdf copy of the PowerPoint slide file
for the March 6th class session, you can do a Reply To this email or
directly email me at xxxxxx@verizon.net and ask me to send it to
you, no worry.

NOTE: As a result of the conversations at the end of last week's class
session, this will be the last Newsletter. Also, as agreed to, the class
session topics of Trip Planning, and Buying An EV, on March 13th and March
20th will not be presented and discussed. The Cars & Coffee class session on
March 27th is cancelled. There will be no class session on March 27th.

Rather, at the March 13th class session, we will discuss Bill's requested
topic of What Will the EV Environment Be Like In 5 Years. Tentatively I will
try to address the following:
EV MANUFACTURING:
-Who will be building the EVs? How much will they cost?
-What will the batteries be like? What will they be made of?
CHARGING AND CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE
-What will charging an EV be like?
-Where can one charge up an EV?
EVS AND THE GRID
-What will the relationship between electric power production and EVs be
like?
-What will the impact of Vehicle to Load (V2L), Vehicle to Grid (V2G),
Vehicle to Everything (V2X) be?

At the March 20th class session, we will address Steve's topic associated
with what things should be done when parking/storing [in a garage] an EV for
4 months during the winter in Minnesota?

I have asked Jackie to help me out in digging up what Tesla recommends
relative to parking a Tesla for 4 months during the winter in Minnesota. I
will attempt to find out what Ford, Hyundai/Kia/Genesis, and other non-Tesla
makers suggest. I have some owner's manuals that contain some language about
parking the EV for a period of time. Not sure that it specifically addresses
leaving the EV unattended for 4 months though. Will give it a shot.

The beginning of the Newsletter #3 provides the details of the discussions
leading to the above revisions to the GV EVBC class session topics for the
remainder of the Spring semester.
