Video of audience interaction master Jimmy Brogan.  He spent most of his career as a writer (wrote Jay Leno’s Tonight Show opening monologue for 9 years). I could not find much in the way of performance video, but this little clip will give you an idea.

He did make an appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1984, they only way they would have him on was if he would just do material without talking to the audience so he did.
